Exim Bank Seminar on Business Opportunities with Asian Development Bank

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB), Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Builders Association of India (BAI) and Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), recently organized a seminar on "Business Opportunities with Asian Development Bank", in four metros viz., Mumbai Kolkata, Hyderabad and New Delhi.

Speaking at the Inaugural session, Mr. Prabhakar Dalal, Executive Director, Exim Bank, highlighted the close linkages that the Bank shares with the Asian Development Bank, and stated that the seminar is a part of Exim Bank's overall strategy to facilitate and promote the internationalization of Indian companies. Mr. Dalal stressed that this joint endeavour in creating more awareness about the multilateral funded projects through such seminars would contribute to increased Indian involvement in ADB funded projects and programmes.

Mr. Bernard Zentgraf, Senior Procurement Specialist and Mr. Alexander Fox, Procurement Specialist from ADB Headquarters, Manila, presented the procurement and consultant recruitment policies of ADB, as also the various procedures involved, which would serve to enable the Indian exporters of products, projects and services, to enhance their ability in securing business opportunities in projects funded by ADB. Mr. Annamraju Harsha, Portfolio Management Officer, ADB, India Resident Mission, New Delhi, provided an overview of ADB and its role and activities in India.

Exim Bank, through its links with multilateral agencies, financial institutions, trade promotion agencies and service providers, offers a wide range of services to supplement its financing programmes. Such seminars are in line with Exim Bank's objective of proactively supporting the globalization efforts of Indian companies. With procurement business and participation in projects funded by multilateral agencies, like the Asian Development Bank, offering significant business prospects for Indian firms, in areas where they possess significant competitive advantages and domain expertise, the seminar presented an opportunity for the Indian firms to gain a deeper understanding on the procurement methods and guidelines for goods and services, as also provided strategic inputs on bidding successfully in ADB funded projects.
